How and Why CMI strives to be the industry's premiere business IT experts

Recently we had the honour of being named IT superhero at IT Europe's Techie Awards. This award was created to acknowledge the IT experts that rose to the challenges their clients faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s always nice to have one’s efforts recognised. But more than anything it comes as a testament to our mission and vision.

Our goal is to work in partnership with forward thinking clients to provide effective IT services and solutions. As IT experts, we also aim to be a leading technology services business that people want to work for and clients want to work with. Our mission and vision would implode without strong values. So, in the following blog, we thought we’d take the time to outline the values we stand by. Without them, we wouldn’t be IT experts and we certainly wouldn’t have won any awards.

Keep it real - stay true to yourself and be honest 

As IT experts, our goal is to provide our clients with nothing but the ideal solution to meet their technical issues, business challenges, and long term goals. It guides everything we do. Profit, or jumping on the latest technology, comes second. We’ll never recommend a solution we don’t think is the ideal fit for your business.

Challenge yourself; be better than yesterday and go home proud

Being IT experts means constantly pushing the limits of what we can offer and how we can help. That’s why when COVID put unprecedented strain on our clients’ IT, we knew we couldn’t go home satisfied if we didn't do whatever we could to help. That’s why during lockdown we challenged ourselves to host Weekly COVID webinars for our clients to help guide them through the immediate remote working and security challenges.

Love work and laugh; take pride in what you do... and remember to have fun 

It’s easy to be IT experts when you love every minute of it. Injecting fun into work is the best way to ensure that. Prime examples are the virtual client peer groups and the lockdown readiness workshops we hosted. These helped share ideas with our clients, but more importantly, kept morale up during the tough times.

Get involved; take responsibility and go the extra mile 

We like to make our client’s problems our own. That’s why we never stop at ‘just what the client asks for’. So to top off our COVID support efforts, we decided to create an interactive eBook designed to help leadership teams navigate the road to recovery.

Support each other; respect, encourage, and praise your colleagues

It’s called IT support for a reason. Everything we do is designed to empower other people. That starts with our own team and runs all the way to the very depths of your business. This was another huge motivator behind us hosting virtual client peer groups with our MD to help our clients through the COVID crisis.

Always maintain your integrity, even when no one is watching

We didn’t set out to become IT experts for the glory. Every decision we make is based on what we know to be the ideal solution for your business. Not what our peers or an awards body might think. Ironically, that’s helped us fare rather well on the recognition front...

Our values have formed the backbone of what’s been making us IT experts since day 1. By focusing on those, we’ve claimed not just the superhero award this year, but also the MSP of the year at Connect IT and a place on the MSP 501. Everyone from our staff, to our clients and partners has helped us in our journey towards achieving these accolades. So to anyone who has joined us along the way, thank you. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Graham joined CMI following the acquisition of his previous business in 2016, having successfully run that for business for 20 years. Graham's absolute focus is on making sure that we consistently hold our clients central to everything that we do, and is often heard repeating our mantra "we exist to make a significant positive impact on our clients business". Graham and his team work closely with our clients to educate, inform, and ultimately to provide technology that delivers that positive impact.
